First Holistic Massage

Your initial Holistic massage session will involve a consultation where I will ask questions about your lifestyle and general medical history. This is to make sure there are no medical contraindications. It also enables me to tailor your treatment, making it unique to suit your needs on the day.

 

I will reassess the situation every time to make sure you benefit from your treatments. All the information is kept strictly confidential and complies with data protection laws.

Prior to your massage appointment

It is advisable to have eaten a light meal at least an hour before treatment to help maintain blood sugar levels and to bring a snack with you for after the session. Please do not consume any alcohol before getting a massage.

Patients are reminded that they are fully responsible for their own well-being and for providing the relevant personal and medical information.

 

During the massage treatment

The following symptoms may be experienced:

  • Desire to sleep – the body enters a state of relaxation

  • Perspiring – the body starts to eliminate toxins

  • Flatulence – digestions starts to slow down expelling gasses and freeing the colon of blockages & bloating

  • Urge to urinate – the body starts to eliminate toxins

  • Runny nose – the body starts to eliminate toxins

  • Change in body temperature –during relaxation the body temperature naturally drops

  • Thirst – the body requires more water to assist with the elimination process

 

After your massage treatment

Massage makes the body systems function more efficiently, encourages waste removal and the elimination of toxins, so it you may experience the following:

 

  • Non specific aches and pains including headaches/ symptoms may exacerbate - with gradual pain relief from symptoms. As massage improves the blood flow in the body, causing blood vessels to constrict and then relax. This change in the blood flow could bring on a headache.

  • Fatigue and altered sleep pattern leading gradually to increased energy levels

  • Frequent urination and/or bowel movements

  • Slight nausea or light-headedness

  • Skin reactions / break out of spots -

  • Increased thirst

  • Heightened emotions or vivid dreams or positive mood changes.

 

After massage advice

  • Drink plenty of water to help your body with the removal of toxins,

  • Eat a light meal after the treatment, to give your body time to remove waste products.

  • Do not drink alcohol, tea or coffee for 24 hrs after the treatment to prevent overloading your body with toxins.

  • Try to have an easy day and go to bed early to allow your body to respond to the treatment.
