Integral Eye Movement Technique- IEMT in Ealing
What Is IEMT?
Integral eye movement technique (I.E.M.T) is an therapeutic modality which uses eye movement techniques to support achieving a change, getting 'unstuck' from negative loops and supporting emotional regulation.
We store our memories and life experiences inside our minds and this can influence the way we behave, respond or feel to current situations. Some of these responses, sit deep in our subconscious - this means we don't consciously think or recall them - but these memories have influence and impact on our lives. They are rooted in our psychological (mind) and physiological (body) and influence our coscious decisons as well as physiological responses. For examples some past experiences can "trigger" unwanted behaviour, like anxiety or irritability, or unwanted body reaction like headache or IBS.
IEMT approach is not talk therapy and in most cases we will not require much detail about an actual event, it can be helpful if a person is uncomfortable talking about their experiences.
What IEMT Can Help With
The main client focus with this modality is helping people with:

Feelings of guilt, shame, embarrassment - which may show up as low confidence or lack of self esteem. Preventing a person from moving on or doing things they would like in life.
-
Feelings of anxiety, worry or fear - which may be problematic in social situations, making choices in work or life, lead to people pleasing and over-committing.
-
Feelings of frustration, resentment or emotional anger - effecting relationships, communication or mental well-being and leading to outbursts or feeling out of control
-
Single Trauma or Post Traumatic Stress
What to Expect in a Session
After a short assessment, we identify the target emotion or belief. I’ll guide specific eye-movement patterns while you hold the target in mind. Sessions are paced safely and always client-led.
IEMT FAQ
Is IEMT the same as EMDR
While both EMDR and IEMT use eye movements to help the brain process difficult emotions, they differ vastly in their approach. EMDR requires you to recount past traumas and follow a strict, structured clinical protocol. IEMT focuses more on how emotions are felt in the present and identity imprints, allowing you to get relief without discussing the details of the trauma.
How many sessions would I need?
IEMT is typically brief. Some people notice meaningful shifts in a small number of sessions; others combine IEMT with counselling over a longer period. We’ll review progress together and adapt as needed.
